Obituary for
Karen L. Combo (Harpole)
Combo, Karen L.
Caledonia: On July 28, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer at age 62. First and foremost Karen loved her family...spending time with them, feeding them, laughing with them and buying things for them. She was always concerned about everyone else even in the days she was struggling the most. She didn't spend time wallowing in self pity or worrying for herself. She was a mother through and through and her instinct was to care for her loved ones no matter what. She especially found joy in being with her two full of energy grandsons. She was the grandma who was going down the slide with them, playing right along side of them always. A beloved GiGi who spoiled them rotten in every way! Karen had friends, and LOTS of them! She loved her get togethers with "the girls" and all parties and gatherings with her and Pat's neighbors and life long friends. These people have been so dedicated to her and her family through these difficult months, just as she would have been for them. Karen loved reading books, shopping, socializing, soaking up the sunshine, and sharing her famous meatball cookies with everyone. She was also fond of a good candy bar every now and then. ;) Karen should be most remembered for her selfless giving, her love for people, those beautiful green eyes, and the way she loved to laugh.
She is predeceased by her son, Patrick; her father, Richard Harpole and sister, Susan Harpole. She is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Pat; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Leah Combo and daughter, Lauren Combo; her 2 loving grandsons, Luca and Torin Combo; her mother, Rose Harpole; sisters, Deborah Fallone and Christine (Jim) Merzke; brothers, Richard (Theresa) Harpole and Ron (Staci) Harpole; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Loretta and Carl Combo; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Lillian and Neil Barton; several nieces and nephews and many loyal friends.
Friends may call Thursday 4-8 PM at the Alhart Funeral Home, 3068 W. Main St., Caledonia. Her Funeral Service will be held Friday 10 AM at the First Presbyterian Church, 3080 Main St., Caledonia.
