After graduation from Caledonia-Mumford Central School, Floyd served in the National Guard for six years. He retired from Eastman Kodak in 1991 after working there for 25 years. Since his retirement, Floyd did construction and landscaping for many people in the Caledonia area, and volunteered for five years at the McKay Wildlife Park where he performed horticultural maintenance and designed many plantings and flower arrangements for the Richard Thomas Overlook Area. For over twenty years he was the official film taker for Cal-Mum Football. During the years of the Cal-Mum Variety Show, Floyd was an active participant. He enjoyed taking wood carving classes from Cliff Yates. He was an active member of both Mumford Baptist Church and the First Presbyterian Church in Caledonia where he served on many boards and committees. He was known for doing repairs at First Presbyterian Church and St. Columba Cemetery. Floyd was an active member and great supporter of the Caledonia Fire Department for 40 years. In 2013, he became a member of good standing of the Caledonia Masonic Lodge after 50 years of being active in many capacities. And finally, in 2014, Floyd was honored by the Livingston County Office for the Aging at its 34th Annual Seniorama as the Town of Caledonia Senior Citizen of the Year for all he has done for the Caledonia-Mumford Area.
