V.Anne Brown (Smith)
V. Anne Brown. Passed away on July 17, 2016. Anne was predeceased by her husband, Harrison M. Brown, Jr. (Buster) in 1978 and her son Peter in 1996. She is survived by her sons Anthony and Steven, and daughter Julia, all of Boulder, Colorado. She is survived by her grandson Joshua (Elizabeth) Brown of Canandaigua, granddaughters Maygen Brown, and Marley Brown of Boulder, Colorado. She leaves behind two beloved great-granddaughters, Margaret Brown and Kathryn Brown. She is survived by her daughter-in-law Elizabeth Brown of LeRoy, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Anne was born in Richford, Vermont in 1932. She and her mother moved to West Hartford, Connecticut in the early 1940s, where she graduated High School, and attended Junior College. She married Harrison M. Brown, Jr. on January 17, 1953. Once Buster completed military service and college, they settled in Caledonia.
Anne was very active in the Caledonia community. Many people remember the “Showroom” as a center for teens. Anne and Buster helped to organize and plan Caledonia’s Bicentennial celebration in 1976. To fund the celebration, she and others started the bi-annual New-to-You sale at the American Legion. She was owner and instructor of the Fitness Center at the Legion Home on Church Street in Caledonia. Anne was the proprietor of Annindale Bed and Breakfast, which became a site for many beautiful weddings. Anne was a founding member of the Caledonia Garden Club. The Garden Club Christmas Craft sale was first held at Annindale.
