When I learned of the tragic death of your daughter, Taylor, I felt compelled to write to you. Although a distance of more than 400 miles separates us, the bond we share..sudden death of our daughters...now forges a connection between us. Loss of a child is a heartbreak like no other. When I was told of the deaths of my two daughters (ages 17 and 19), my world was turned upside down, and my life, as I knew it, collapsed around me. As you and your family try to come to grips with such an unfathomable loss, please know that others, including myself, understand the overwhelming grief of losing a child, as only a parent who has lost a child can. We have had the misfortune of becoming members of a club which none of us have asked to join. We never get over the pain of losing our child, or children,, but we get through it. It will be 12 years, on August 25, that my two beloved daughters were killed in a head-on crash.
I have found that reaching out to other bereaved parents has often been the best help I can give myself. As you struggle in the face of unfathomable grief over the loss of Taylor, I hope it brings you some small comfort to know there are other parents out there, both near and distant, who hold you in their hearts, including...Maria in Camden, Maine.
Though I do not know you personally, When I heard the news of this tragedy, it saddened my heart as well as many others in the surrounding communities.
