W. Robert Sheldon

Mumford/Venice, FL.W. Robert Sheldon passed away on September 27, 2014 in Venice Florida where spent the last several years. The son of Claude K. and Blanche (Huffstater) Sheldon, he was born July 29, 1917 in Sandy Creek, NY where he graduated from Sandy Creek High School. Mr. Sheldon graduated from Albany School of Business, he worked in the wholesale plumbing business, and in 1960 formed the Great Lakes Plumbing Supply Company in Rochester, NY and spent his adult life in the Mumford-Caledonia, NY area.He married the former Elizabeth (Betty) Nichols in July 1942. They lived in the Caledonia-Mumford Area and enjoyed several lake front properties in the Finger Lakes and Lake Ontario. Mr. Sheldon was an avid golfer being a member of the Stafford Country Club for 45 years. He also enjoyed fishing on Lake Ontario and was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church, Mumford.His wife of 67 years and their two sons John and William and five siblings predecease Mr. Sheldon. Surviving are his two sisters Alice Gibbs of Watertown, NY and Grace (Edmund) Davis of Syracuse, NY, several nieces, nephews and grandnieces and nephews.Friends are invited to attend his Memorial Service Saturday, October 11,2014 at 11:00 A.M. at the First United Presbyterian Church of Mumford,893 George Street, Mumford, NY 14511.
