Susan Martin

–

Caledonia Village, NY

Susan Kay Martin, age 80, a longtime resident of Mumford, New York, passed away on October 26, 2026.
Born on January 11, 1946, she was the beloved daughter of Mayfred and Donald Evans. Susan graduated from high school in Bradford, Pennsylvania, and spent most of her life in Mumford, New York, where she built a lifetime of memories with family and friends.
She was predeceased by her loving husband, Thomas Martin Sr., who passed away in 2017.

Susan was the devoted mother of Thomas Martin Jr. (Lauren Martin) and Stephanie Burns (Rob Burns); the proud grandmother of six cherished grandchildren, Olivia Woodward, Simon Martin, Colby Burns, Evan Martin, Peyton Martin, and Kayla Burns; the beloved sister of Barbara Bonasera; and the loving aunt of Christina Togni (Daniel Togni) and Joseph Bonasera (Lisa Bonasara).

Above all else, Susan treasured her family, especially her grandchildren, who were truly the light of her life. She took immense pride in each of them, celebrated their accomplishments, shared in their lives, and found her greatest happiness in being their grandmother. Her love for them knew no bounds, and they were, in so many ways, her greatest joy and purpose.

Susan was also blessed with a close-knit circle of lifelong friends, many of whom became part of her life when she and Tom first began their journey together. These treasured friendships, rooted in the Scottsville area, spanned decades and were filled with countless memories, laughter, and unwavering companionship. She also cherished the friendships she developed within her apartment community, as well as the special bond she shared with the McKeown family (Marybeth, Rick, Ricky, and Andi) and the DeWitt Family (Bill, Millie, Jason & Cristy). Through life's many seasons, these meaningful relationships brought Susan comfort, companionship, and joy, and remained an important part of her life until the very end.

Susan was remembered by those who knew and loved her for the love she gave so freely and the special place she held in their hearts. She left behind countless cherished memories and a lasting legacy of love that would continue through her family and friends.
A private celebration of life was planned for a later date with close family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requested that memorial donations be made in Susan's memory to the Lymphoma Research Foundation, in honor of her late husband, Tom, or to Genesee Country Village & Museum, a place she held dear to her heart.
