Sharon lived her life to the fullest on her terms. From New York to Las Vegas, Nevada, Sharon kept trying to find her way . Sharon attended R.E.O.C. in NY where she obtained her GED and cosmetology license which she held up until this point. Sharon worked a few jobs such as Kraft in Avon, Rochester General Hospital in the medical records Department and Kozy Kitchen in Caledonia. Sharon worked up until her health would not permit it and she was deemed disabled. Sharon enjoyed dressing, music, attending events such as the lilac festival, parades, collecting antiques, knitting and traveling. She loves dancing even though she had "2 left feet' as she would say. Sharon struggled with substance and alcohol disorder throughout the course of her life. However, she had almost 10 years of sobriety before her passing. Despite any disagreements, she loved her children and siblings unconditionally.
Sharon spoke whatever came to mind and was always upfront with people regardless of how they felt. Anybody that knew her, knew they were getting 1 or 2 personalities. If you were on her good side, she was sweet as pie. And if you were on her bad side, watch out. She was unapologetically her at all times. Sharon knew one day she would be here and she did her best to prepare her children for this moment. She wanted everyone to celebrate her life. She use to say "they weren't crying while I was here, I don't want them crying when I'm gone". This was even stated in her end or life wishes.
She was old school and strict in her parenting style. If you got out of line, Sharon always had a trick or 2 to put you back in your place.
Sharon felt outcasted from her family at times but she did her best to make other family members feel welcomed and loved.
One thing every one should know is that she loved the Lord. She taught her kids to get on their knees and pray. She didn't always say or do everything right. In fact, she was aware of her shortcomings. But she believed in the power of prayer. Sunday mornings were sure to have her gospel music playing and she attended church when she could.
Sharon leaves behind many good memories and a host of family and friends she loved and truly cared about. Many people will miss her dearly but the Lord decided she had enough suffering. Though she is no longer physically amongst us, she lives in our hearts forever. Mommy...God says well done.
Family and friends are invited to attend her memorial service at 11 am, Saturday, September 28, 2024 at the Second Baptist Church, 957 George Street, Mumford. Private interment.
