Malcolm C. Mcvean Obituary (1942

With his family by his side and surrounded by love, Malcolm C. McVean passed away peacefully on December 21 at his home in Scottsville at the age of 81. He was predeceased by his parents Gene and Margaret McVean and his sister Jane McVean, all of Scottsville. He is survived by his wife Barbara McVean, his children, James (Jennifer) Hanna, Bridget (Rob) Bauman, and Patrick Hanna, his brother, Rev. John Julian McVean, OFM, and grandchildren, Hanna and Robby Bauman, Meghan and Allison Hanna, and Jonathan Hanna, as well as many cousins and dear friends. Malcom is a graduate of Wheatland-Chili Central School and SUNY Geneseo. In both high school and college, he was active in sports, especially basketball. He was a teacher in Rush Henrietta for five years before deciding to devote his full time career to the automobile business, where he worked in several managerial positions until his retirement. A member of St. Columba, Malcolm loved his faith and his church. He made a time for prayer part of his morning and nighttime rituals. He also had a lifelong respect and love for the land and the beauty of nature. He often spoke of the rhythm and awesome wonders of God's natural world. Malcolm enjoyed long scenic rides with his wife to find new roads and explore the countryside. He loved working on projects and could take an idea and bring it to life. He built decks and fences, created beautiful gardens, built bird houses and stone piers by the driveway. Malcolm was happiest when he was planning or working on a project or simply being with family. He always looked forward to Friday night happy hour with his kids and grandkids. Those times were pure joy for him. Our family is forever grateful for having Malcolm's unconditional love, his gentle, patient, generous, wise and humble presence in our lives. He was a blessing and wonderful example for us all. He will be with us always. Family and Friends are invited to attend Malcolm's Funeral Mass 11 AM Saturday January 13, 2024 at St.Martin de Porres Parish St. Columba Church 198 North St. Caledonia.
