In Loving Memory of Joy Lofgren October 22,2000- December 12,2025 Joy Jeannette aka Nerta Roberta age 25, passed away peacefully at home on December 12,2025. Joy was a life-long resident of Wheatland, NY, and was lovingly cared for by her family during her short but impactful life. The seventh of eleven children, Joy was known for her bright smile, colorful graphic tees, and her love of children’s music. Her favorite food was macaroni and cheese. Joy loved looking through books and magazines, “practicing” the piano, walks, petting dogs, “The Wiggles”, and cuddling her cozy handmade blankies. Donut holes were a favorite treat. When her health and care became more complex in 2007, her family created a suite that was tailored to her needs and the things she enjoyed. This quickly became the “epicenter” of the home. Joy’s family adjusted their individual schedules to make sure that she was supervised around the clock, making it possible for her to remain at home. As the years passed and her body continued to decline, the care from her family never did. Everyone who came into the home knew that Joy was greatly treasured. Her parents firmly believed that Joy had great purpose, and had faith that the trials in her life were so “the works of God might be displayed(John 9:3).” This strong confidence has been shared countless times with those who met her, or have heard her story. Her physical absence leaves a hole in the hearts of her loved ones, but knowing she is dancing and singing with her Heavenly Father provides sweet comfort and hope. Joy is finally healed. She is survived by her parents, ten siblings, their spouses, nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, great aunts and uncles, cousins and a precious grandmother. The family would like to thank the compassionate care of Dr. David Breen, Tanya Steele, Colleen Hill-Sober, many physical therapists, and nurses, Christina Lee and most recently Dr. Erin Good of the Complex Care Center.
