Joan E Boylan-Smith Joan Boylan Smith was born on August 2, 1932, in Rochester NY, and her family lived on Brooks Avenue. When the airport was being built, they had to sell their property to make way for it, and they move to Mumford and opened the gas station on the corner for some time. Her mother was Hildred Louise Allen, and her father was Harry E Clarke. She had two sisters. Nancy Clark and Audrey Clark, both deceased. Joan passed away quietly on Monday morning, June 15, in Mount Morris. Joan had five children:Terry Wayne Boylan, Donna Gay Boylan, Jeffrey Clark Boylan, Lori Jean Boylan, and is survived by the only child that she did not outlive, Kelly Boylan-Suazo. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Justin Enjo, Dena Enjo, and Tyson Tumulty Brandy Tenlen and Rachel Lykosh Kelsea Boylan and Hunter Boylan Ryan Boylan Suazo, Evan Luis Suazo, and Solana Joan Suazo And her great grandchildren: Darien and Aiyan Delaguarde Piper Tenlen, and Rhys Turbe Eneko and Marlo Suazo Joan married Laverne Lester Boylan when he returned to Caledonia from the Marine Corps. Together they had five children, and lived in Caledonia. Joan and Laverne moved to St. Thomas in the United States Virgin Islands in November 1967. In 1978 they separated and Joan moved back to Caledonia. She later married Ralph James Smith better known as Jimmy Smith, and they were married for upwards of 40 years, until Jimmy passed in November of 2020. Joan was a very beautiful, strong, outgoing, organized, and just an exceptional woman. She had a witty sense of humor, and generally got a smile from almost everyone she came in contact with. Unfortunately, Joan also suffered through many tragedies, considering she lost four of her five children, mostly to cancer of various forms. The fact that she still carried on is testament to her strength and will. I hope and pray that she may finally rest in peace. She will be missed, and she will never be forgotten. She would’ve been 94 this year. Services and Interment will be held privately.
