In Loving Memory of Jenell Carnes
Jenell Carnes, age 80, of Mumford, New York, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2026, surrounded by loved ones.

Born September 13, 1946, Jenell was the beloved daughter of Warner and Dorothy Johnson. She lived most of her life in Caledonia and Mumford, graduating from high school there and attending college at the Rochester Institute of Technology.
Jenell was known for both her generous nature and her gift for bringing people together. The parties and gatherings at her house, her backyard pool, and on her front porch are too numerous to mention, but they already live on in retellings as joyful and vivacious as Jenell herself.

Jenell was predeceased by her longtime partner, Dick McKay. She is survived by her children, Jeremy Carnes and Greg Carnes ; her grandchildren, Noah Carnes, Alex Carnes, and Torrin Carnes; and by the Whitesides, whom she considered her siblings: Jim, Bonnie, Victor, RJ, Kathy Jo, and Donny, as well as many extended family members and dear friends who will miss her deeply.

Her graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 7, at 11:00 a.m. at the Mumford Rural Cemetery, followed by a reception to celebrate Jenell’s life at the American Legion in Caledonia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jenell's memory to the Mumford Library and the Mumford Fire Department.
