Obituary for Elizabeth Ann Donegan Keenan

MUMFORD- passed away peacefully at home on March 14, 2023. She had celebrated her 90th birthday in November with her family.
Betty was predeceased by her husband Edward Lynn Keenan, infant daughter Diana Margaret, parents Margaret Owens and Victor Donegan, sister Ruth Delaney, brothers John Victor, Harold, and Bill Donegan.
She is survived by her son Matthew (Kim), Daughter Lynne (Jim) Freeman, Grandchildren Megan (Matt) Schweider, Ryan and Kaylin Keenan, Evelyn Rose and Devan Elizabeth Freeman along with many nieces and nephews.
Betty Graduated from Caledonia High School and State University of Brockport. She taught school in Rochester, Spencerport, and Caledonia. She took her elementary students out for exercise and fresh air when possible. She loved and supported many naturalist causes like Friends of Letchworth and the Bergen Swamp Preservation Society. She participated in nature hikes and bird watching trips. Betty shared her love of nature with her husband, children, grandchildren, great nieces, nephews, and a close circle of lifelong friends who loved to hike and share a cup of coffee. She was legendary for her country rides, hikes at Wolf Creek, and getting a "sweet treat" after the tour. She loved sweets and made peanut butter walnut fudge frequently. She was an avid reader and visited all the local libraries She spent hours enjoying Agatha Christie Stories. She was a member of the Big Springs Historical Society and loved history. She enjoyed her home, watching her bird feeders and peaceful sound of Spring Creek.
