Obituary for Jane M. Stellwagen
Passed away Saturday, September 24, 2022 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s at age 96.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Jean Stellwagen, niece, Susan (Jeffrey) Deragon, nephews, Richard (Gina) and Stephen (Tammy) Stellwagen; great nieces and nephews, Benjamin (Erin) and Emily Deragon, Chelsea (Nick) White, Holly Stellwagen, Tyler Stellwagen, Jennifer (Trevor) Smith, Christine (Jimmy) Peck, several great-great nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her brothers and sister-in-law; Herbert (Eileen) Stellwagen and Richard Stellwagen Sr.
Jane retired from Drexel University in Philadelphia where she was Dean of Women. She began her career in higher education at the University of Rochester, where she earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees. Jane went on to be dean of women at South Hampton University. She was a long standing docent at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. She was a world traveler, and was a member of several ski clubs and enjoyed hiking and biking. Jane loved art and was an accomplished artist.
Her Funeral Service will be held 11 AM on Monday, October 3, 2022 at the Alhart Funeral Home, 3068 West Main St., Caledonia. Private burial at Holy Sepulchre, Rochester. Memorials may be made to the LeRoy Village Green, Sunshine Fund, 10 Munson St., LeRoy, NY 14482.
