Fred H. Maas, 85, peacefully passed away under the loving care of his family on June 22, 2021. He was the beloved husband of Donna (Price) Maas, they shared 56 years of marriage together.

Fred was born in Susquehanna, PA, to the late Fredrick and Elizabeth Maas. He was employed at IBM Endicott as an Engineering Program Manager for 27 years.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Caledonia and found much strength and solace in his faith. He loved to spend time puttering around in the garage and working on his cars. He had done it all from rebuilding motors to a wooden boat restoration. If there was a tool for the job, he had it and could fix anything that ever needed to be repaired.

He is survived by his loving wife Donna; daughters Edie and Amie; grandchildren Chelsea and Ryan; sisters Carol (Larry-deceased) Alderdice, Nancy (Eugene) Baker; and brothers John (Suzanne-deceased) Maas and Jim (Billie) Maas.

His funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 3rd at 11am at the First Presbyterian Church, 3080 Main Street, Caledonia, NY 14423. Interment will be a private family service held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Caledonia.

My sincere condolences to Freds family and relatives. Fred was my manager on second shift at two very different periods in my career with IBM. I was amazed at the work load he had, not only managing two departments everyday along with commuting to and from PA to Endicott which could easily be and hour in each direction ( I never figured out why he needed to be that happy). Fred lead by example, was always concerned about everyone in the Dept. He knew what each job required from the from the operators point of view and was an excellent motivator in getting things done. He was a pleasure to work with and was well respected by all who worked for him. He certainly was a gentleman you can all be very very proud of.

Freddy looks so much like his Dad!
I remember very well the last time I saw Fred. It was in May of 1985 at The Baptist Church on Jackson Avenue in Susquehanna my Dad’s funeral visitation. I burst into tears when I saw him there that night standing against the Church wall.
The Maas family was very active in the Presbyterian Church in Susquehanna and the Langford family and the Maas family had the same family older sister (Carol and Me) and then 3 boys. Fred’s mother-in-law, Edith Price, cut my unruly hair for years in their home on Laurel Street and Edith was one of my mother’s dearest friends.
Carol and I played mellophone together in the high school band when she was a senior, graduating in 1952 (?), and I, a lowly freshman. I remember visiting Carol and Larry in their Buffalo home.
I send my heartfelt sympathies and prayers for peace and comfort.
