Andrea N. Walton
York, NY
On Thursday, April 8, 2021, Andrea Newman Walton passed away at the age of 71.
Andrea was born in Rochester on November 6, 1949, the youngest child of Richard and Doris Pelletier Newman, and spent the majority of her childhood growing up in Honeoye Falls, NY.

Andrea is survived by her husband of 51 years, Robert C. Walton of York, NY, and her daughter, Michelle Worden, and son-in-law, George Worden, sister Beverly (James) Botsko of Michigan, nephew Jamie (Elizabeth) Botsko, niece Amanda (Josh) Botsko-Wilson, great-nieces and nephew. Andrea was preceded in death by her daughter, Sarah Walton, and her parents, “Dick and Polly” Newman.

Andrea married Robert on July 11, 1969 and raised her family in York, NY. When her girls were getting a little older, she decided to return to college to finish her degree. She graduated magma cum laude from SUNY Geneseo in 1985, with a bachelor's degree in communications. Andrea was proud of her accomplishment-all while raising and caring for her family at the same time. She went on to have a fulfilling career as the Public Information Coordinator for Genesee Valley Educational Partnership, retiring in 2011.

She enjoyed fishing, boating and spending time with her husband, daughter and son-in-law, and their beloved rescue dog Cooper, as well as friends at their fishing camp on the St. Lawrence River. It was not unheard of that she outfished her husband Rob on occasion. Andrea also enjoyed spending time with family and friends she held dear.

Due to COVID, there will be no prior calling hours. A celebration of life will be held at a time and date to be announced in the summer. A private interment will be held at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, York, NY. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the York Fire Department, P.O. Box 409, York, NY 14592.

My friendship with Andrea goes all the way back to the days of Brador Publications, and then into our years together as public information coordinators at the then-Genesee Valley BOCES. She was a colleague, a respected fellow journalist, my supervisor, and my friend. She had a way of seeing and pointing out the humor in a situation, for which I am eternally grateful, and I will remember her smile and her laughter always. May her memory be a blessing to her family and all who love her.

I worked with Andrea for many, many years at Livingston-Steuben-Wyoming BOCES and when we were known as Genesee Valley BOCES. We shared happy times, great accomplishments, laughter, side jokes and frustrations. She was a very kind person, always with a smile. We often sat next to each other in meetings and shared grins, comments under our breath and laughter. My thoughts nd prayers are with all the family in this sad time. May she Rest In Peace. Sincerely, Merry Lou Holley

To all of Andrea's family --
I was greatly saddened to hear of Andrea's passing. She joined the BOCES team about a year or so after I started working there. She was a great friend, a trusted confidante, and a wonderful co-worker who was always there when I needed her help. I loved her sense of humor and could always count on leaving her office with a laugh or two. It was a privilege and honor to have worked with Andrea for so many years. May you find peace and comfort sharing the happy memories of her with each other.

I was fortunate enough to work and laugh along with Andrea when we were at Genesee Valley BOCES. Andrea's many contributions to the organization and her support for, and celebration of, students, teachers and her colleagues have had a lasting impact. Andrea's sense of humor and quick wit were only surpassed by her dedication to publicizing the achievements of young people and their teachers. Her family was always her greatest source of pride. Andrea and all of you are in my prayers. She was special - and will be sorely missed. God bless you ---- Mike Glover
