Obituary for Nancy C. Hoag (Sickles)

Rabbit, Rabbit, Rabbit!

On April 1st, Nancy Carmel Hoag, loving wife and mother of six children, passed away at age 91 surrounded by her family at her home in Caledonia.

Nancy was born on October 4, 1929 in Rochester, NY to Evelyn and Glenn Sickles. On August 17, 1949 she married Richard Hoag. Together they raised four daughters, Debbie, Roxanne, Susie and Julie, and two sons, Richard and Bill.

Nancy had a passion for the outdoors. She loved being in nature, bird watching, fishing, gardening and swimming in Mumford creek. Nancy also enjoyed playing cards, bowling, playing bingo, going on lake vacations, taking rides and sitting around the campfire. She loved puzzles, the Yankees and her chickens as well as her home and the farm.

Nancy’s pride and joy was her family, and she would tell you that her family was her greatest accomplishment. She was the ultimate matriarch. She loved her family and together with her husband, Richard, established an everlasting loyalty and love that now spans generations. Nancy’s legacy is one of true love, hard work, grit, strength and family.

Nancy was predeceased by her husband, Richard, her brothers, Alan Ray (Laurelie) and Bill (Lorraine) Sickles, her grandchild, Brad Pangrazio and her parents, Evelyn and Glenn Sickles. She is survived by her six children, Debbie (Keith) Bugman, Roxanne (Dan) Pangrazio, Susie (Baxter) Sharp, Julie (Glen) Cummings, Rick (Sheryl) Hoag and Bill (Lisa) Hoag, her brothers, Gary (Eileen) and Bob (Marie) Sickles as well as 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held this coming summer. Many thanks to her caregivers – Kim, Lynn, Cat, Trish and Joanne. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Livingston County Hospice or the Audobon Society.
