Only recently learned of classmate Leon’s passing. Leon is fondly remembered by the swim team gang from the 1960’s. Leon was the stalwart backstroke guy who owned his events and always put points on the board along with Scott McNealus, Steve Lockte, Steve White, Rich Elliott, Jay Otteman, Dave Briskey and the rest of the crew under the coaching of Coach Parker and Meryl Bridgeman. While we corresponded a few times over the years I will miss his stories and memories of those halcyon days. I know the whole C.A. Class of 1969 mourns the loss of our classmate. My sincere condolences to Leon’s family and friends. — Jon Penrose

Martha and family, I am very sorry to hear of Leon's passing. He and I worked together back in the 1980's at Chloride. Leon was a really great guy and I appreciated getting emails from him upon occasion. I consider myself blessed to have known him. Steve Witkowski

Dear Martha, Please accept my deepest sympathy on your loss. I just learned of Leon's passing a few minutes ago and I am both shocked and saddened. Leon was a great guy. I only worked with him four years, but we remained friends for 32 more. I will miss him too. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family.

My wife and I met Leon & Martha on a tour of Nova Scotia a year ago in August. We seemed to bond immediately with both of them. We kept in contact via email and we were even planning to drive to New York to visit them this year and let Leon and Martha give us the grand tour of the area - until the Pandemic ruined that plan. We never got the chance to get to know him more. So sorry for you and your family Martha.
