Obituary
Robert Poles Sr.

Caledonia: Robert passed into the arms of our loving Lord and Savior on April 18, 2020, at the age of 80. He has been looking forward to being with Margaret, his wife of 57 years, since May of 2017 when she left to be with the Lord.
Robert believed that God and family are the most valued in one’s life. He is predeceased by his sister Barbara (Shelton) Poles, his brothers John Poles Jr., Albert Poles, and Charles Poles. He was the patriarch of a large family; Robert Poles Jr., Ronald (Terri) Poles, Laurie Poles, Roland (Christine) Poles, LoraLynn Poles-Harrison, DorothyLynn (Cedric Bowen) Poles; 18 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, sister Mildred (Robert) Glover, and several nieces and nephews.
Robert served in the United States Army, 82nd Airborne Division and was honorably discharged after four years of service. His passions throughout life were church, spending time with family, making lawn furniture, working on small engines, hunting and fishing with his friends and family.
Robert had a personal relationship with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and often greeted everyone with a “Praise the Lord” to let them know that they were considered a friend and valued as a child of God. His mission in life was serving his church as a Deacon for over forty years, including his last assignment of fifteen years supporting his son’s ministry at the Henrietta Church of the First Born.
His faith led him into sowing into his community of Caledonia by volunteering as a coach with little league baseball, girls’ softball, and Pop Warner football; shaping the lives of young people was something he loved to do. In self-reflection, he believed that from his service of giving back to his community, he reaped the blessing of watching his children and grandchildren play and dominate in a variety of sports. His other prize pastimes were listening to his granddaughters sing and learning for the first time that the family had its first, lawyer, author, Superbowl winner and military soldier.
From his kids: “Dad you have fought the good fight, you have finished the race, and you have remained faithful, and now your prize awaits you, the crown of righteousness.” 2 Timothy 4:7-8 We love you, but we know that God loves you best. We will miss you and we will see you and Mom again, enjoy paradise!
A date will be set in the future and notifications will be sent out to inform everyone of the Celebration of Life Gathering at Henrietta Church of the First Born.
