Obituary for Laurence E. "Hoover" Jackson

Laurence “Hoover” E. Jackson, Sr.
Passed away peacefully on February 25, 2020 following a brief illness. He was being visited and comforted by family and dear friends while at the Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Mt. Morris NY. Larry was 70 years old.

Larry was born in a farmhouse on December 25, 1949, in the Town of Wheatland to Robert and Esther (Williams) Jackson. He attended High school in Caledonia, NY, is a US Army veteran and a former volunteer fireman for the York Fire Department in York, NY. Throughout his career, he was a driver for various trucking companies and local farms. Larry retired in May of 2012 from M & T Trucking Inc. in Pavilion, NY. Besides being on the open road, Larry’s passion for life was music. He was a self-taught musician who played drums and harmonica most notably alongside Tim Bucci, Bill Pitcher, Tom McBride and Al “Buzzo” Bruno.

Larry is survived by his son, Laurence Jackson Jr. and Amanda Lynn of Henrietta, NY; daughters, Theresa Jackson-Milton and fiancé Lorenzo Christian Sr. of Rochester, NY; Nicole Ignatz and her husband Aaron of Savona, NY; and Noelle Kersch-Elliott and her husband Mark of Warsaw, NY; grandchildren LaShanna, Sharice, Emisha, Johnny III, Lorenzo Jr., Maija, Laurence III, Isabella, Michael, Keisha, Matt, Kenny, Derrell, Alexis, Ethan, Joshua, Nicholas, Gregory and Noah; 9 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and cherished friends. He also leaves behind a brother Clifford Jackson of Rochester, NY. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his five brothers, Robert Jr, LaVerne, Julian, Kenneth (Suttie) and Arnold and two sisters Christine Jackson and Dora Williams.

Friends may call Sunday 1-4 p.m. at the Alhart Funeral Home 3068 W. Main Street Caledonia, NY. A burial and celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the York Fire Department. PO Box 409 York, NY 14592.
