Josephine Marchase Cappotelli (Grandma Jo) Sept. 7, 1923 – Dec. 28, 2019

Josephine Marchase Cappotelli, predeceased by her husband, Frank S. Cappotelli, grandson Matthew Lee Cappotelli, parents Pasqualle and Isabella Pisaro Marchase, brothers Frank Marchase, Angelo Marchase, sisters Mary Webster and Margaret Accenti. Josephine is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law Frank and Georgeann Cappotelli of Frisco, Texas, Gary and Martha Cappotelli of Webster, N.Y.; grandchildren Andrew Cappotelli, Aaron (Bridget) Cappotelli, Adam (Stephanie) Cappotelli and Lindsay Cappotelli. Josephine also witnessed the blessing of great-grandchildren, Kate and Abby Cappotelli, Alexa and Ava Cappotelli, Noah, Caleb and Mila Cappotelli. Additionally, survived by many nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews.

Josephine was born in Piffard, N.Y. on Sept. 7, 1923 and graduated from York Central High School. She married Frank Sylvester Cappotelli on October 6, 1945. Frank and Josephine built their home in Caledonia where she resided until her death. She worked as a cashier at George’s Market in Caledonia for a short time before she became a clerk at Community Outfitters. Josephine was also a past member of the Caledonia Fire Dept. Ladies Auxillary and a life long member of St. Martin de Porres Parish/St. Columba Church.

Josephine’s greatest love was her husband and her “boys”. She was happiest when in the kitchen cooking and baking for her family. Her sauce, meatballs and cream puffs will be missed by her grandchildren. Josephine enjoyed playing the slots and penny poker. She was an avid fan of the Buffalo Bills and was certain they would be heading to the Super Bowl.

A very special thank you to Molly Peet, Charlene Carnes, Laurie Trathen, Michelle Riggs and Raul Lopez. Your kindness and love shown to our mother is sincerely appreciated.

Family and friends may call Friday, Jan. 10th from 4-7 p.m. at the Alhart Funeral Home, 3068 W. Main Street, Caledonia. Her funeral mass will be held Saturday, Jan. 11th at 11 a.m. at St. Martin de Porres Parish/St. Columba Church, 198 North Street, Caledonia. Interment will be at St. Columba Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 435 E. Henrietta Rd., Rochester, N.Y. 14620 or

I loved our visits to Grandma Jo's house during our trips to Caledonia. I'll always remember the yummy Italian dinners she made for us and the cream puffs! She will be missed!
