Obituary for Mary A. Schirmer (Vogt)
CALEDONIA - December 6, 2019 at age 83. Predeceased by her husband, John Schirmer and son-in-law, Peter Brown. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Daniel Barber; sons and daughters-in-law, John and Ruth, Joseph and Debra, Jason and Kelly Schirmer; 6 grandchildren, Josh (Elizabeth) Brown, Samuel, Mariel, Emily, Eva and Claire Schirmer; great-grandchildren, Margaret and Kathryn Brown; several nieces and nephews.
Mary graduated from SUNY Geneseo in a degree in education and taught school at Caledonia Mumford Elementary School until her retirement. For several years, Mary volunteered at the Big Springs Museum. The most important thing to Mary was spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed playing clarinet, knitting, reading, baking, traveling, walking, watching Jeopardy.
Friends may call Monday 4-7 PM at the Alhart Funeral Home, 3068 W. Main St., Caledonia. Her Funeral Mass will be held Tues¬day 10 AM at St. Mar¬tin de Porres Parish / St. Columba Church, 198 North St., Caledonia. Interment, Holy Cross Cemetery, Dansville.
