Dear Gerie, and Joe,
We did not know your dad, but know the wonderful memories of your heritage will make your family who they are. We had the privilege of having a lovely lady ,Pleaseacross the street where we live from the Netherlands and she shared wonderful things that we have cherished among them chocolates, and little porcelain dishes that I use for my earrings.
Our deepest sympathy!

I will always remember John for his smile, standing on the corner of his patio and greeting every person going by. He was a sweet, gentle man. Reminded me so much of my dad (same name also), they went through the same rough time during WW II . He always had a nice word for his Willy. You will be missed. Condolences to His family we will keep you in our prayers. Louise vd Meer and goodbye Opa from Richard Lacourse.

Ever since we met John and his wife Willie 12 years ago in Florida, they have held a special place in our hearts. Such a kind and interesting couple. We loved sitting on their patio listening to all their stories about living in Holland and emigrating to America after WWII; and learning about their lives here. They amazed us at their ability to remember dates and minute details of events that happened 70+ years ago! What a legacy the two of them have created! Three daughters and a son and their families that we are so grateful to have gotten to know through their stories about them, and also sharing time with the families at the beach house on the Gulf and our visit a few years ago to New York. While at Pioneer Creek in Florida, John loved to play Bocce ..... and he was so good at it! And we enjoyed watching and playing with him. He never said much about the rolls he made, but when he made a GOOD roll, he would just quietly step off the court and smile (as to say, "beat THAT shot!") We love you John, and will miss very much. Rest peacefully, our friend. Will and Lois Coutcher

Thank you and the others at Pioneer Creek for being there for Grandpa and Grandma when we couldn't be. They are blessed with good friends!
