Obituary for Mary L. Dombrowski (Morgan)

Mary L. Dombrowski
(Morgan)

CALEDONIA-MUMFORD - May 30, 2019 at age 78. Survived by her children, Terry (Brian) Bowers of Clay, Steven Dombrowski of Hamlin; grandchildren, Ashleigh, Lindsey, Chelsea, Benjamin Bowers, Taylor Dombrowski; sister, Ann (Roy) Hamblin; brother, William Morgan; several nieces and nephews.

Mary was predeceased by her husband, Frank Dombrowski (a former Monroe County Deputy Sheriff, bravely killed in the line of duty); sisters, Jean Gruendike, Phyllis Trelly.

Mary was a hard worker all her life, with one of her happiest times managing a local Rochester restaurant with her sister, Jean. She was known for her kind heart, her compassion for animals (especially her cats), and her love for her family especially her grandchildren. Having raised two young children as a young widow she instilled perseverance, compassion, fortitude, and independence. She had a creative, artistic side having made many holiday ceramics that the family will cherish. She loved country music, and in her earlier years would sing at nursing homes with two of her sisters and brother-in-law. She also had a mischievous side, loving to pull practical jokes on her family and friends, a trait that has passed down to her grandchildren this day. With having several grandchildren who played soccer, she became an avid follower of the US Women’s National Soccer Team and was looking forward to the upcoming World Cup. Most recently, we converted her to an SU Basketball fan and loved to watch her on the edge of her seat during games. While she lived in the Syracuse area most recently, her heart was with her friends and her memories in the Rochester area whom she dearly missed.

She was a strong, independent woman who was burdened for far too many years with a chronic illness that stole her independence away day by day. You are free from illness, free from suffering. Soar high mom. We love you and will miss you greatly.

Family and friends are invited to call Wednesday 11 - 1 PM at Alhart Funeral Home, 3068 W. Main St., Caledonia where her Funeral Service will be held following calling hours at 1 PM. Interment, Mumford Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lollypop Farm, 99 Victor Road, Fairport, NY 14450.
