Obituary for Norma J Myers (Cobb)

Norma J. Venn Myers, nee Cobb, born July 31, 1925, passed away on May 9, 2017, in Rochester, NY, surrounded by family.
Norma’s playful and creative spirit, as well as her love of nature enriched and inspired the lives of those close to her. A tireless worker, Norma began her career as a secretary in the late 1940’s, eventually becoming a long time administrative assistant in the insurance business, until her retirement at age 79.
Her interests included folk dancing, crocheting, sewing, and gardening, and for many years Norma attended the Methodist Church where she was able to celebrate both her faith, and her love of music by singing in the church choir.
While Norma grew up in Fairport, NY, she also lived in Rochester, NY, until the death of her first husband, Frederick C. Venn, in 1967, then moving to Victor, NY, and eventually relocating to St. Petersburg, FL.
Because of the generous care of many nieces and nephews, including Rick and Laurel, Marilyn, Lisa and Rich, and Rob and Denise, Norma was able to live independently until her declining health necessitated nursing home care at age 91.
Norma is the last surviving sibling of the Charles and Iva Cobb family, and is survived by three children, Marian Venn, Victoria Venn (Andrew Hanson), and Nancy Venn (Allen Blanck), and grandchild, Nathanial Whitman. Norma is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Services to be arranged.
