Brenda Long Dow
Mumford, New York - After a brave 30 year battle with multiple sclerosis, Brenda Long Dow died September 19, 2016 at the age of 76 years old. She is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years, Richard; daughters Elizabeth (Jim) Bishop and Margaret Dow and three granddaughters: Caroline (Stephen) Hill and Ann and Carol Adamski, sisters in-law Dorothy (Dod) Crane and Virginia (Reid Bielenberg) Tayloe Dow.
Brenda was the daughter of Dorothy and Benjamin Joel Long of Pittsford, NY. She attended Pittsford Sutherland High School, Vassar College and the University of Rochester. Brenda was co-owner of BJ Long Company. She was most proud of her contributions to the community including her volunteer efforts at the Scottsville Public Library, First Presbyterian Church of Mumford, The Genesee Figure Skating Club, The United States Figure Skating Association, The Girls Scouts of Genesee Valley and The Allendale Columbia School. Brenda loved her family and friends, her home of over 57 years and golf.
Thank you to the many friends, professionals and caregivers who provided care and love to Brenda and the family during her illness. The family would like to recognize Brenda’s personal care givers over many years: Tammy Saeva, the family of Pam Stokoe, Lisa Collins, Karen Comstock, Sharon Stokoe, Larissa Smith, Ronald Brown, Tamera Negron.
