Condolence From: William P. Thorpe
Condolence: As I grow older I become ever more aware of the very important positive influences I received in my earlier life. Jim Dollard was for me a pivotal person and relationship of humankind.
Death leaves a heartache one can never heal
Love leaves a memory one can never steal
I love you Jim!

Condolence: It is a little known fact that Mr. Dollard was the principal at New Lebanon Central School (east of Albany) around 1969-1971. I spoke with him about this maybe four years ago during a rainy alumni weekend at HFL and he still remembered his secretary, Jean Crosby, and asked if I knew how she was doing. You see I graduated from NLCS and Bill Dollard was in my fourth grade class with Miss Fisher before the Dollards moved to Western NY. I cherish that conversation from that rainy day and enjoyed reminiscing with such a remarkable man.
May all his family and friends find peace in their memories.

Condolence: We are sorry to hear of Jim’s passing. If the measure of a person is how they treat their neighbors, Jim and Anne are the scale to which all should be measured. They live in my memory for the care and kindness they gave to my parents (Eric and Irene Johnson).

Condolence: To all of Jim's family we send our most sincere sympathy an Jim's recent passing. WE knew Jim through my Dad, Myron White. Dad was Principal at Greece Olympia H.S. Jim was one of his most admired staff members. Their friendship and respect for one one another went on for many years past Olympia. Dad was so happy that we took him to HFL for the ceremony ,on a Sunday afternoon, when HFL named the Athletic Stadium after your Dad. When Dad passed, Jim, eulogized Dad at the memorial services. For that we were so grateful. Our best to you all. What a blessing he is now with your Mom, they were a marvelous couple. The Gaffney's

Condolence: Jim Dollard was a caring, empathic and professional educator of the highest order. I was privileged to know him as a Vice-Principal at Olympia as a student and later as a colleague when I taught in Greece. Seeing him throughout the years since I graduated in 1969, he always remembered me and asked about my parents and my family and was interested in what I was doing. Jim, I have always thought of you as a consummate educator both professionally and in your private life. I am grateful that we were friends.

Condolence: Mr. Dollard, who I knew for the majority of my life as Mr. Donald Duck, was an amazing man. My mother worked with him for many years and I was always so happy to see him at events, as he always made me laugh. His warmth and kindness was never ending. My thoughts and prayers are with the Dollard family, the world has lost an amazing man, but heaven has gained a true angel.

Condolence: To the Dollard family.. your father is the 1 teacher that I never forgot from GOHS. I spent the summer following my junior year attending summer school trying to make up for a really bad academic school year. I learned more about American history in 6 weeks than I thought possible. Mr. Dollard.made the class fun, he inspired you to study and come to class. His smile was infectious and he made history interesting and wanting to know more. You could feel his passion for teaching in the way his gorgeous Irish blue eyes would light up during class

Condolence: There are so many reasons to remember Mr. Dollard with fondness as well as respect. I remember him well when our younger daughter was diagnosed with intellectual and developmental challenges and would need the services and supports of a special ed program. As a member of the Committee on Special Education, he was quick to support her need, and advocated for her right to a special education program that allowed her the kind of education that gave her the basis for her great success in life. Whenever I saw Mr. Dollard, even years later, he remembered her and always asked how she was doing. Her success in life can be attributed to his willingness to support her as she proceeded on her journey in life. Certainly Jim Dollard's journey was an exceptionally great success as well!
